Share in a great tradition
Sunday Lunch is a tradition loved by many. It’s a means of reconnecting with your family, partner or friends in a cosy setting after a long, busy week.
Every Sunday we offer a Sunday Roast in addition to our Seasonal Kitchen Menu. Depending on the season our roast will alternate but everyone’s favourite is roast beef with Yorkshire puddings, roast vegetables and duck fat potatoes.
Come and enjoy our tempting range of dishes accompanied by all the trimmings. It’s our’s and our nation’s favourite!
But where does this tradition come from?
Well, all the way back in the 15th century it was said that one of King Henry VII’s royal guards would enjoy freshly roasted beef every Sunday after church service, affectionately gaining him the name “beefeater” – an apt description if you consider by the 19th century the average Brit was eating 3kg of beef a week!
Following on from that, during the Industrial Age, almost every household would pop a roast in before going to church – rich or poor, confirming just how important it was for everyone to sit down together to enjoy this meal.
