Indulge in the art of afternoon tea
The quintessentially British tradition of Afternoon Tea goes back to the early 1800s and was first made popular by Anna, 7th Duchess of Bedford, who was a lady in waiting to Queen Victoria.
The aristocracy of the time would eat huge breakfasts, light luncheons and late evening meals. With the invention of gas lighting, the evening meals were pushed further into the evening, extending the gap between lunch and dinner. As a result, during the afternoon, the Duchess would get a bit peckish. The solution came in the shape of a tray of tea, bread and butter and cakes – and the rest is history!
Afternoon Tea at Knockderry provides the perfect ingredients for a relaxing afternoon catch up or opportunity to celebrate a special occasion, such as baby shower, sophisticated hen party, Mother’s Day or birthday.
