Undoubtedly one of the loveliest times to visit Knockderry House is during the summer months of June, July and August. And with the better weather come all the opportunities to get out and enjoy the beautiful countryside and all the exciting activities planned across the area.
Highland Games are a favourite and are a traditional cultural link to Scotland’s clan gatherings. Many of the activities such as tossing the caber, stem from these war-like games to select the strongest and bravest, but many of the events include music and dancing and provide a strong cultural link to the past.
The Commonwealth Games however, which comes to Glasgow this summer, is a fabulous celebration of the Commonwealth Nations. This multi-sport event starts in July and was first held in 1930. The Queen’s Baton Relay will travel the length and breadth of Scotland, inviting everyone to be a part of the excitement, celebrations and countdown to the Games and with countless sports and cultural events taking place daily along the route, including an evening celebration, there is something for us all to enjoy.
Later on in the summer we have the Great Scottish Swim. This fantastic event is returning for its second year in the majestic surroundings of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. It is the ultimate way to revitalise your weekend, and there is no better way than to spend it in the open water of Loch Lomond or on its fun-filled shores.
Here are a few or our favourites for this summer. We hope you enjoy the months to come and if you are looking for some accommodation you can book your room online.
