Knockderry House Hotel and Wild by Nature have collaborated to provide you with a day full of eco-activity taster sessions at a stunning location. Activities that you will get to experience include archery, sea kayaking, bushcraft and food talks. There will also be a barbeque sizzling throughout the day which is included in the ticket price. Session times are as below (booking in advance required when purchasing your ticket).
Archery sessions will take place on the front lawn and involves shooting arrows at a target for accuracy from a set distance or distances. Get competitive with your friends and family or just try and master the basics.
Sea kayaking will provide the opportunity to try a unique and captivating sport over a 1 hour period. All you need is a little water confidence and to bring some thermal clothing, such as fleece layers, to wear whilst kayaking. You will be introduced to the sport by one of Scotland’s most experienced sea kayakers, Archie Waters, who will provide all other equipment including cagoules, buoyancy aids and kayak equipment. Sea kayaking will take place directly off the Knockderry Hotel, weather permitting. If conditions are not suitable on the immediate shore front, a more sheltered venue, such as Rosneath Bay will be sought. Bushcraft Talks: Take the chance to find out what plants and techniques our ancestors used to provide transport, shelter and headache cures! These fascinating sessions with Wild by Nature’s expert will include a short walk around Knockderry’s grounds to identify useful survival plants. By the end of the session you will be able to identify the best kindling, the fungus that allow you to transport fire and you should have retrieved some wild salad for tea!
Food Talks: Learn about local and seasonal produce which is championed at Knockderry House. You will also have the opportunity to ask the Head Chef, Donn Eadie, all those burning cooking related questions.
Tickets are £15 per person and include one activity, one talk and a barbeque voucher. Children must be 14 years or over to participate in Sea Kayaking or Archery. Children under 14 are welcome, tickets are £6.00 and include the talks and the barbeque. Book online here.
